The magazine admitted their choice of artist may “come as a surprise” but revealed that Mars’ album, Unorthodox Jukebox, has remained on the Billboard 200 for most of the year ever since it debuted at the number two spot in December 2012.

To date the record has sold over 1.8 million copies and produced three top ten singles.

In a Q&A with thesinger, Mars revealed, “I love to create music. That’s all I was trying to do with that album, was to enjoy what I do. And that’s going into the studio and writing whatever I feel. And I’m just happy that there’s some people out there that like it.”

Reflecting on 2013, Bruno said: “There’s been so many awesome moments this year. The highlight was going on tour with my boys, with my band. Seeing the world and playing these songs.”

But he added: “I can’t wait to back into the studio.”
