Bruno Mars Talks Super Bowl Half Time Show With Red Hot Chili Peppers
The Gorilla singer is a good sport...
During a press conference ahead of his half-time show, the Gorilla singer was quizzed about his stint on stage by Destiny's Child star Michelle Williams - who joined her bandmate Beyonce for a reunion during 2013's sporting event.
When quizzed by Williams how he felt when he was asked to perform, Mars replied: "I couldn't believe it.
"We were all watching you as a band last year when you performed with Beyonce and we were just like, 'Man, I wonder if one day we get the call to do that' and it definitely came soon.
"Just honoured because some greats have been on that stage and we're just excited you know that we're gettin' the shot."
He went on to reveal his fears ahead of the show. stating: "We just started rehearsing two nights ago and you never really know what you're gonna expect when we got out there there's a lot of things that happened.
"Just like the microphone turns into a popsicle and all these things that you don't really think about going into it but I'm grabbin' the mic and it's frozen so it's stuff like that that we're taking into consideration, gettin' some heaters on everything."
Speaking of how it feels to be sharing the stage with Red Hot Chili Peppers, the Hawaiian hitmaker said: "The NFL, when we got the phone call they were like, 'Hey, we love - in these things we love to raise the stakes and have you know you can have another artist there with you. Would you like to do something like that?' And the first band I thought of was the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
"I've been a fan of theirs for such a long time, I've admired their career and after sitting down with, I sat down with Flea. They're a soulful band and not just musically but as people, you know? I sat down with Flea and he's so passionate about music. Even still this day doing it for so long. He's still so passionate about creating music and performing."
He added: "I want to surround myself with guys like that forever so it's an honor to be sharing the stage with them. They're one of my personal favourite bands of all time so I'm excited for that."
