Busta Remembers Biggie
Ten years since Biggie's death and he's as important as ever...
Today (March 9) marks the tenth anniversary of the murder of Christopher 'Notorious B.I.G' Wallace, and his old mate Busta Rhymes has been reminiscing with MTV News.
Busta told us, It takes most people lifetime careers to establish what he established with one album.
In just a few short years B.I.G. went from Brooklyn street hustler to the saviour of East Coast hip-hop, to a tragic victim of the culture of violence he depicted so realistically in his records.
He was gunned down while riding in the passenger seat of a car on the night of March 9, 1997 and Busta remembers the lovable, lyrical hip-hop icon in his own special way.
Me, Big and Jay-Z went to school together," he said. "Big wasn't even rhyming then, he was just hustling. So it was weird to see him become so incredibly lyrical when he was the last one to become an MC. He was the first one to have the biggest success
It's a testament to B.I.Gs success that his legend continues to live on.
