Calvin Harris Live Review

MTV News catches the Scot at Somerset House...

After Mr. Hudson and his supernova warmed up the crowd, Somerset House eagerly awaited the main attraction, Calvin Harris.

The strobe lighting and banging beats introduced Harris - dressed casually in a black leather jacket and trade mark white hoody.
The I’m Not Alone hit maker unleashed his first attack on the crowd as his Scottish charm worked its magic on the hoards of adoring CH fans, he told his audience: "I know it’s a Monday night, but I wanna see you get on it!"... And get on it they did...
Particular stand out tracks were classic Calvin club tunes like Acceptable In The 80’s, Girls and new track Ready For The Weekend which well and truly left us begging for it to be Friday night!
Harris also played some tracks from his last album such as Merrymaking At My Place and I Created Disco - It is clear to see why anyone from Lady Gaga to Katy Perry wants to work with him as it seems anything and everything he touches turns to musical gold.
Harris then let loose his monster number 1 hit I’m Not Alone on Somerset House, saving the best until last.
Every single person was jumping up and down as instructed by Mr. Harris who repeatedly told the crowd: "I wanna see you get on it" before thanking us very much indeed for coming.
Calvin delivered an energetic and accelerating performance taking the crowd through the many chapters of the Calvin Harris story so far.
However, it was a shame that some parts of the story had been overlooked such as smash hit single Dance With Me, which was left out of the set list. Despite the absence of a certain Dizzee Rascal, it still would have been amazing to see Calvin play the dance hit live.
All in all, Calvin brought this series of Somerset House gigs to a successful close, leaving us singing I’m Not Alone all the way home, now we are well and truly ready for the weekend...
