"I know it was dead catchy but with Cheryl, she's so huge and everyone knows who Cheryl is. She could literally do any bit of promo going, so I think she just smashed it."
He added: "She was on everything and she performed it a lot. Folk seemed to like the song and the folk love her. It was just all of those things."
Harris also went on to tell us what it was like working with Bajan babeRihanna on her smash hit single We Found Love, explaining he thinks RiRi is the definition of "radio."
Calvin explained: "When you go into the studio with someone like Rihanna - she is radio.
"I mean, you turn the radio on and there's Rihanna, you listen to her voice and it's the radio. So if you hear that voice singing your song, it's mind-blowing.
"It's something you would never expect, that voice to be singing that song and then suddenly it sounded completely different, it's not a song, it's like listening to the radio in the studio before it's on the radio, it's really weird."
Harris currently has four productions in the UK top 40, with his mix of Florence + the Machine's Spectrum (Say My Name) sitting pretty at No.1.
