Calvin Harris Reveals The True Meaning Of ‘My Way’ Amid Speculation It's About Taylor Swift

Here's what he had to say...

Calvin Harris has revealed what his awesome new track, ‘My Way’, is really about after speculation started that it was written about his ex, Taylor Swift.

Because obviously.

As it turns out, Calvin got inspiration from the track way before his relationship with Swifty, as he tried to break free from his supermarket job and break into the music industry full-time.

He told Elvis Duran on Z100: “It’s breaking out of a situation. I thought of the concept years ago, when I left Safeway.

“I was trying to move to London and I was working in the store in Scotland, I was trying to go on and make music for a living but I couldn’t because I didn’t have any money. I was like, damn this grocery store! If I could break out of this I could have enough time to work on music and get good.”

He continued: “It’s hard to get a job in my town. You get brainwashed into thinking that’s as good as you’re going to get, and then you have to realise that actually there’s a whole world out there.

“When you’re stuck in that situation, you can’t see that. You don’t think that you’re going to become anything! That was just the concept that was in the back of my mind, but I had no idea how to put that into words until very recently.”

Adding that he’s ‘not an autobiographical singer’, Calvin went on to tell On Air With Ryan Seacrest: “It could be a job that you hate, and then you quit the job then life is awesome. It could be about a relationship and you get rid of the girl or the guy then life is awesome.

“I think it's like an amalgamation of events in my life since maybe the past 10 years.”

So, there you go. Speculation over.
