Hockey At The Camden Crawl

The Oregon outfit struggle to live up to the hype...

Strolling on stage with the swagger of a seasoned rock band, adorned with headbands and other suitably stylish accessories, Hockey certainly looked ready to live up to the hype surrounding the new wave/soul outfit.

The band were up against it from the start though. News that The Enenmy had cancelled had travelled fast and this unquestionably showed in the size of the crowd which looked positively insignificant in the huge expance of Roundhouse.

The band started energetically with singer Ben's gritty vocals roaring out over suitably chunky beats. The crowd may have been small, but the band were definately giving it their all to win them over.

The band's first single 'Too Fake' recieved the best reaction of the night with die-hard Hockey fans signing out every word to the track's huge explosive chorus.

New single 'Learn To Lose' was also met with equal enthusiasm from the pocket of groupies huddled at the front of the stage.

Hockey definately show promise, but are currently punching above their weight. Whether they live up to the hype in time remains to be seen.
