Cameron Diaz Ends Interview Over Barrymore Comments

Actress takes offence at radio host making light of her pal's drug issues...

Cameron Diaz has put an Australian "shock jock" radio personality in his place after walking out of an interview.

The actress was being interviewed alongside Sex Tape co-star Jason Segel on KIIS 106.5's Kyle and Jackie O Show when Kyle Sandilands attempted a crass joke at the expense of her close friend Drew Barrymore.

Co-host Jackie O had suggested that Giselle Eisenberg, the actress who plays Diaz's daughter in the film, is like a young Drew Barrymore in ET.

And when Diaz agreed, Sandilands quipped: "Let's hope she misses out on the Drew Barrymore drug years, because those were a great thing to watch, but not so good to be in, I'd imagine."

Cam understandably bristled, responding: "I'm sure, Kyle, you've never been through a drugs phase, have you? Or alcoholism or anything like that? Pretty clean; always did it right? Congratulations."

A brief attempt to keep the interview on-track followed, before Diaz blurted: "We're having to go now. Sorry, they're wrapping us up."

And after they had departed, Jackie O remonstrated with her co-host over his lack of tact.

"Well, that started very well and ended poorly, I think. Good one, Kyle... You ruined that interview. Sorry to be blunt, but you did.

"You brought up Drew Barrymore, her best friend's drug addiction in the past. She's her best friend. And then you brought up Benji. We all know how protective Cameron is about her private life."

But Sandilands was defiant, replying: "Maybe they should've just bought ads if they wanted to sell the movie."
