Tbh it’s really consumed our lives, deciding on who we’re most obsessed with - characters or real life people: KJ Apa, Bughead, Cheryl Blossom or Camila Mendes. You catch our drift. And if you’re still deciding then here is everything you need to know about Cami, to swing either way...

Camila Carraro Mendes was born on 29 June 1994 to Brazilian parents in Charlottesville, Virginia. She told People: “I’m a full-blooded Brazilian, with an entire extended family of Brazilians, but I was born and raised in the U.S. When I go to Brazil, I feel like an American, and in the U.S., I always notice the traits that make me Brazilian.”

And moved around a lot

She spent a lot of her childhood in Miami, Florida but the family moved a whopping 16 times and lived for a year in Brazil. Because of this, the actress speaks English with her dad and Portuguese with her mum.

Camila revealed that it actually helped her understand Veronica Lodge more than most. She told Covetuer: "I definitely relate to Veronica, one, her sense of humour and, two, in her circumstances," she said. "I think I've experienced certain aspects of her life firsthand. I know what it's like to be the new girl because she is the new girl in town and I grew up moving around a lot in my childhood. It was a very unstable life, I never really got to identify with one place, so I was constantly trying to re-identify myself."

She’s a University graduate

Cami only went and got a Bachelor of Fine Arts from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, before hitting it big in acting. And guess who was her classmate? Our babe Cole Sprouse. Appaz she remembers seeing him at parties, but he doesn't remember her. LOL.

Then Riverdale came a calling

While in her last year at Tisch, she spent months auditioning for Riverdale where she ended up being the last audition on the very last day of casting. Save the Cami for last and all that.

But her first acting job was for Ikea...

LOL. This is amazing. She was cast in an advert for the Swedish megastore in 2016 before the CW snapped her up.

Before she shocked the actual world in October 2018 by dropping that Insta snap announcing she was dating co-star Charles Melton aka Riverdale’s Reggie Mantle, she was in a couple of other relationships. She dated high-school friend Victor Houston for a few months in 2018 and prior to that was in a three year love-fest with director Ian Wallace.

She’s got one single tat

Camila has one tattoo that reads: ‘To build a home’, which she explained meant she strives to be true to herself. She told Latina Magazine: “All you can control is who you are and as long as you stay true to that, then you’re home. I created this idea in my head that no matter where I go I’m home because I am — my body is my home. I got a tattoo below my right breast that says, “To build a home,” because that’s my goal in life — to build a home within myself.”

She’s a mega feminist...

As well as being fully for woman empowerment, she’s also hit out at body negativity on multiple occasions.  She told Revelist, “that they would then manipulate our bodies when we are literally preaching body positivity is so personally insulting, and it’s also insulting to the readers. You’re spreading a false message about what people look like, you know?” LOVE.
