Daniel Brühl Confirmed For Captain America 3 Cast

But Rush star's role is being kept under wraps for now...

It's official - Daniel Brühl will star in Captain America: Civil War.

The 36-year-old German actor, best-known for his critically acclaimed performance as 1970s racing driver Niki Lauda in last year's Rush, was confirmed by Marvel Studios to have joined the threequel.

Marvel's creative chief Kevin Feige said: "With Daniel's ability to deliver intense, nuanced performances, we knew we had found yet another great actor to share the screen with some of our biggest heroes."

There is no word yet on what role he will portray, however Variety reports that he's in the frame to play a baddie - and one who will go on to become an adversary in the forthcoming Doctor Strange movie.

Directed by Joe Russo and Anthony Russo, the third Cap movie is slated for release in April 2016.

And there has been speculation that the Russo brothers are in line to take over the Avengers franchise from Joss Whedon after the forthcoming Avengers: Age Of Ultron.
