Cara, Wilderness And The Dinosaur Glasses
Queen Delevingne hosted a Mulberry picnic at Wilderness, but we’re more obsessed with her dinosaur sunnies…
By Venetia Falconer & Jennifer Lynn
Wilderness is one of those brilliant festivals that isn’t just about the music; there’s all manners of theatre, fashion and – for some lucky guests – the chance to picnic with Cara Delevingne in a pair of dinosaur sunglasses.
For those of you who weren’t at Wilderness, or indeed Cara’s Mulberry picnic, the glasses in question were a pair of Spangled’s Boogie Off Blingster Blue Bronto Rims. Available online for just £40, word on the street is the designer gifted a pair to Queen D, who then couldn’t be parted with them for the duration of the festival.
While she’s a regular festival attendee anyway, Cara actually had business to attend to at Wilderness, where she hosted an exclusive Mulberry picnic to launch her new bag collection.
With Jamie Winstone and Douglas Booth (swoon) amongst the attendees, guests sipped on Laurent Perrier, while checking out Cara’s designs – which were kept safe in the Cara Van. Sort of like a Batmobile, but in shiny green Land Rover form, and filled with handbags.
Cara’s effortless festival chic isn’t as easy to come by for the general punter, so lucky for us, Secret Emporium were there to save the day with the means to satisfy every festi-fashion fetish!
The design collective curated a select circle of independent clothing, jewellery and vintage designers, under one tented roof.
There were incredible patterned bomber jackets from Kuccia, fantastically feathery head pieces from Olivia Page and the most claw-tastic gems you have ever seen from Tessa Metcalfe.
What’s more, we even managed to get our faces glittered, a mere miracle, seeing as the queue for In Your Dreams was two hours long! The body artist team also sell amazing tribal tattoos transfers – by the time we returned to the main arena, we looked like RiRi… but a little bit less hardcore.
And it wasn’t just us that had been enjoying the tent, as SE's Tess Acheson revealed to us that celebs including Game of Thrones actress Oona Chaplin and blogger Susie Bubble had also popped in over the weekend.
"Susie always seems to seek us out and snap us," said Tess, founder of Secret Emporium, who MTV Style also caught up with at Lovebox just a few weeks earlier.
Speaking of Lovebox, Tess emphasised how different the two festivals had been, with SE managing to cater for both crowds.
"Naturally both festivals draw completely different audiences and we always curate the cache of designers for the audience. Also with this particular comparison our presence was very different. At Lovebox, we did a small ‘SE PRESENTS’ tent, where we selected products from designers and we sold on their behalf within the VIP area. At Wilderness, we had a large tent in a central location in the main festival. We had 33 designers in there, all representing themselves, as well as the ‘SE PRESENTS’ collection.
"One of our new designers Waking Grey did very well [at Wilderness]; we don’t usually take ‘vintage’ but Waking Grey is a step up. Founder Leila has an incredible eye and selects great pieces. TAWN was another hit and a stand out memory is a boyfriend whirling round the tent, asking people to come and look at how hot his girlfriend looked in this amazing sequin TAWN dress. She clearly loved it and was spinning round and laughing - needless to say she bought it!"
Although SE's festival season is all wrapped up for another year, you can shop Secret Emporium online now.
