Cardi B's 'Bodak Yellow' Might Be About To Hit Number One
And the burgeoning star just matched Nicki Minaj's biggest solo hit...
She ain't gotta dance, she makes money moves.
Cardi B might just make history with her debut single 'Bodak Yellow' as it reaches new heights on the Billboard Hot 100 in the U.S.
The infectious track was a late entry to the race for song of the summer when it dropped mid-June but it has been the season's surprise runaway hit and has hit a new peak of number two on this week's chart.
'Bodak Yellow' is the first Top 10 solo hit by a female rapper since Nicki Minaj's 'Anaconda' three years ago and it has now reached its peak, meaning if it goes number one then Cardi B would have the highest-charting female rap song in years.
To put things into perspective, 'Anaconda' is Nicki's highest-charting song and Cardi just matched it with her debut. It's MAJOR.
Taylor Swift is currently blocking 'Bodak' from topping the chart, although there's still a chance that Cardi could replace her as the single gains fresh momentum after she performed it at the 2017 MTV VMAs and announced her forthcoming debut album.
The success of 'Bodak Yellow' is truly unprecedented and a huge moment for not only Cardi B herself but female rappers everywhere, so we couldn't be happier for her.
After releasing two mixtapes independently, she will release her full-length debut in October under Atlantic Records.
Now, come on America, make Cardi B the first female rapper to have her debut single hit number one!
