Carly Rae Jepsen Playing Cinderella On Broadway

Call Me Maybe star will go to the ball as she joins cast of acclaimed show...

Carly Rae Jepsen is to make her Broadway debut as Cinderella, it has been revealed.
The Call Me Maybe pop star will be taking the title role in the Rogers and Hammerstein production of the pantomime favourite.
The show has already run in New York City for a year and the original leading lady Laura Osnes has received a Tony Award nomination for the role.
Speaking as the news was announced, Carly said: "Broadway has been a dream of mine since I was a little girl and I look forward to working with this incredibly talented cast to tell this classic tale."
And she later tweeted: "Dear @LauraOsnes I think you are truly lovely. Big shoes to fill! It's an honor to try on the Cindy shoes! Xoxox."
She explained her motive for the career choice to the New York Times, contacting the paper by email.
She wrote: "It was essentially musical theater training with studies in singing, dancing and acting.
"My favorite part of the school year was our trip to New York, where we met Broadway performers and toured the theaters."
