Carly Rae Jepsen "Surprised" By New Bieber Album

EXCLUSIVE | The Call Me Maybe star is impressed by her mentor's new LP...

Justin Bieber's protégéCarly Rae Jepsen has revealed she's been lucky enough to hear some songs the teen heartthrob's [uuid=c2a05d0b-b5ed-451a-81ed-f387e95a06be]eagerly anticipated new record Believe[/uuid], stating she was "pleasantly surprised."
Jepsen, who Biebs singed to his manager Scooter Braun's label Schoolboy Records, also exclusively told MTV News UK that despite Justin seeking a new musical direction on Believe, his fans will not be disappointed.
The Call Me Maybe singer stated: "He’s played me a couple of his new tracks and I was really impressed. It’s a different sound to what I was expecting but I was pleasantly surprised.
"I think his fans can be excited to hear Justin grown up and that his music’s developed in a really great way. It was awesome to begin with but it’s just got this maturity to it now.”
The Canadian songstress also went on to explain how she felt [uuid=ce3d7d73-4639-4d8f-ad84-7949afeb2dad]about denying JB his first ever UK No.1 single[/uuid], after Call Me Maybe managed to hold off the Biebster's new single Boyfriend from the top spot.
Jepsen claimed: "It’s kinda surreal. We’ve had a very public but friendly competition going on, but the truth is I know I wouldn’t be in this position without his help so it feels like we’re sharing the number 1 spot.
"When I speak to him he’s nothing but supportive and lovely and I hope he knows how much I appreciate it. There’s no bad blood!”
