9 TV Characters That Left Their Show And The World Was Never The Same
We're not okay and we never will be.
We get too attached to shows. No really, we should probs go and see someone about it but meh. So when characters leave, we get understandably upset. But when they are main character that the show revolves around? How are we meant to cope?
And it seems some of these shows coped as well as us when their main cast member said goodbye...
CHECK OUT THE MOST HEARTBREAKING REALITY SHOW EXITS EVER BELOW...
1. Nina Dobrev in The Vampire Diaries
Lets face it, Damon and Stefan are a huge part of TVD but Elena was the centre of the Mystic Falls universe. The entire plot was created around her and her doppelganger Katherine so when Nina decided to leave the show, fans were stunned and the hashtag #NinaIsTheSoulOfVampireDiaries trending on Twitter. The actress said of her exit: “I don't want to play a teenager anymore. I want to play adult roles and be challenged and work with great filmmakers and tell incredible stories, and that has meant being really picky." The show ran for two more seasons.
2. Patrick J Adams and Meghan Markle in Suits
DEVO NEWS ALERT. Mike Ross and Rachel Zane are thought to not be returning to the law office after the seventh series. A source told Us Weekly: ““He was always leaving the show. He made his mind up a while ago. Patrick wants to pursue other things and he’s realized his time at Suits has come to an end. They were waiting for Gabriel Macht to sign. He’s going back so there will be a season eight and as of now, nine.” We’re sorry we are supposed to live in a world of Harvey without Mike? Unthinkable.
3. Lauren Conrad in The Hills
If we’re honest Les Deux was never the same after LC packed her Chanel and waved goodbye to Speidi, Audrina Patridge, Brody Jenner and the gang. Even with her nemesis Kristin Cavallari taking her place at the show’s narrator, fans were not pleased. The show ran for another season and a half before end was near. We were mega fans but we’ll even admit that Lauren was The Hills.
4. Chad Michael Murray and Hillary Burton in One Tree Hill
When Lucas finally decided that Peyton was the one for him, the decided to pack up shop and peace out on Tree Hill. Two out of the five main characters were gone and fans were left thinking wtf now? Even though we were gifted Brooke’s man Julian, Hayley’s sister Quinn and her love interest Clay, it just wasn’t the same and the show finished a few seasons later.
5. Spencer Matthews in Made In Chelsea
Even though Spenny never officially left the show and occasionally pops up on the Kings Road with Jamie Laing and Proudlock, his departure as a series regular left the show without their main playboy. Even though the other cast members like Alex Mytton and Harry Barron attempt to take the reigns as the poshest bad boys around, it’s just not the same. Booo.
6. Connie Britton in Nashville
After almost being cancelled in season five, fans were overjoyed when the show was saved. But disaster struck once again when Connie revealed she was over the country music scene and was exiting the show. Rayna James was killed off and we’re still weeping tbh.
7. Crystal Reed in Teen Wolf
At the end of season three, Allison was killed off when Crystal decided to leave the show amid rumours she’s had an ugly break-up with Daniel Sharman. The female lead bailed and it just didn’t feel right. A series later Tyler Hoechlin left the show and it was announced that series six would be the last. Sob.
8. Mischa Barton in The OC
We are still crying from when Marissa Cooper went and died on us and The OC started to follow her to the grave. The show was missing, arguably, their main character and the fans were over it. Ratings dropped even though cast members were added and Seth and Summer’s relationship remained the best thing ever. The show only lasted one season more. We miss this show, pre Mischa’s exit obvs.
9. Charlie Sheen in Two And A Half Men
When one of the two and a half male leads of the show is kicked off, it’s going to be a bit of a nightmare. After Charlie was asked to leave the show by creator Chuck Lorre after his personal life was made public with stories of drug use and erratic behaviour including Charlie insulting Chuck in multiple interviews, the show was a man down. Ashton Kutcher was shipped in to fill the gap and the show ran until season 12 before it was axed.
