Ed Sheeran Admits That He Wants To Reach Taylor Swift's Level Of Success

Surely he's nearly there, right?

Despite having sold out shows at Wembley, a chart-topping album and being one of the most-streamed artists in the world of 2014, Ed Sheeran has admitted he's still got dreams he'd like to achieve.

The singer has even confessed that BFF Taylor Swift's success is a level to which he aspires to, oh and that Beyoncé made him feel like a true rockstar once.

“At the moment, Taylor [Swift] is a benchmark in America and a lot of other countries,” he told Entertainment Weekly. “In America, I want to catch up with her.”

Though with T-Swift having been in the music business a lot longer than Ed, he has quite a bit of catching up to do.

“I think it would take a lot more work because she’s obviously been going about 10 years more than me,” Ed said when asked about the likelihood of him surpassing her in album sales.

“If I passed her, I think she’d then get more competitive and do more stuff. I think it would only be healthy. Like her surpassing me in sales in the U.S., that’s healthy for me because I now want to get up to that point.”

While as for if any of his celeb encounters or duets have ever made him feel like a truestar, he revealed that there is a certain one which has stuck in his memory.

“Playing with Beyonce. That’s the only point I’ve felt like a rockstar. In my own shows, I’m still quite an awkward British dude with an acoustic guitar. But when you’re on stage with Steve Wonder’s band, Gary Clark Jr. and Beyonce and then they give you an electric guitar to play…that’s when you can feel a bit rock-y.”
