Nicole was adopted legendary crooner Lionel Richie when she was just three years old. The story goes that her biological father was a member of Lionel’s band and when Nicole was small he asked the singer to take her in due to some pretty bad financial times.

2. Jamie Foxx

Actor Jamie was adopted as Eric Marlon Bishop by his biological mother’s adoptive parents Esther Marie Nelson, a cleaner, and Mark Talley, a yard worker. Which is kind of an adoptive Inception kinda deal. He frequently praises his grandmother for his mega success in Hollywood.

3. Snooki

The Jersey Shore star recently opened up on her YouTube channel about being adopted from Chile. She said: “I don’t really talk about it just because I just feel like my family is my family. I never really thought, ‘What’s my birth mother like? What’s my birth family like?’ Because I’m so content with my adoptive parents and my adopted life and family. But you know I thought about it once I started getting older, like, ‘What does my mom look like? What does my dad look like?’. I was adopted at six months from Santiago, Chile. And I was adopted by Helen and Andrew Polizzi. They flew all the way to Chile to come pick me up and they said right when they saw me they said I was like, ‘Mama, Dada.’ So it was meant to be, things just work out that way — it’s called fate.”

4. Kelly Rowland

Although it has never been officially confirmed, it’s long been thought that Kelly was adopted by Beyoncé’s parents, Matthew and Tina Knowles, when she was five. When asked about adoption, Bey's sister Solange Knowles said: “I think it’s a phenomenal, beautiful thing. Kelly Rowland actually grew up with us. She moved in when she was 5 and so we have sort of a blended family. I’ve only ever looked at her as a sister. I think adoption is a beautiful thing.”

Broadway mega star and Glee’s Kristen wrote on WhoSay about being adopted, on National Adoption Day in 2015. She said: “I’ve always known that I was adopted. It was never a secret or held from me. I knew that my birth mother loved me so much that she wanted to give me a better life. And my parents, Jerry and Junie Chenoweth, were looking to adopt a baby and found me – literally less than one week after I was born. Growing up, my parents explained my adoption by telling me, “We chose you.” It was a wonderful way to put it to an adopted child. And I think it’s true. An adoption is a full-circle blessing.”
