What's All This About The Queen Being Dead Then?
A practice run turned a little too real at the BBC today...
A BBC journalist has been part of a serious boy who cried wolf situation today, after a tweet was sent from her account claiming the Queen had died.
Ahmen Khawaja swiftly deleted a post that claimed the monarch had been taken to hospital, aswell as a second which stated: “Queen Elizabrth [sic] has died.”
Khawaja has since apologised for the situation she caused, saying it was a "silly prank" which happened after she left her phone unattended at home.
A spokesperson for Buckingham Palace has also released a statement, saying: “I can confirm that the Queen this morning attended her annual medical check-up at the King Edward VII's Hospital."
“This was a pre-scheduled appointment and the Queen has now left the hospital.”
This didn't stop a number of people sending out their condolences on Twitter though, sparking a serious amount of confusion across the globe!
