After a few days wait Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton have finally revealed that they've called their baby daughter Charlotte Elizabeth Diana.

The baby's name was announced this afternoon by Kensington Palace, and has delighted royal enthusiasts.

The names each hold great significance to the parents, who already have 1-year-old George together.

Charlotte is a nod to her grandfather, Prince Charles, whom William has previously expressed his deep admiration for. It's also Kate's sister Pippa's middle name!

Diana is of course a tribute to William's late mother, Diana Princess of Wales, who passed away in a car crash when William was just 15.

While Elizabeth honours his own grandmother and the reigning Queen, whom William and Kate have a strong bond with.
