It's a boy! Benedict Cumberbatch and his wife Sophie Hunter have welcomed their first child to the world.

The news broke on Saturday evening (13 June) that the star of The Imitation Game and TV's Sherlock had became a dad - just a day after it was revealed that he is to be handed a CBE.

"Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter are delighted to announce the arrival of their beautiful son," a spokesperson for the pair told media.

"We would kindly ask everyone to respect the family's privacy during these next few precious weeks."

The proud parents married on the Isle Of Wight on Valentine's Day this year.
