Chamillionaire Leaves Universal Records

The rapper opens up about his not so happy time with the label…

US rapper Chamillionaire has now officially left Universal Records.

Even though he’s been a little quiet in recent times he had just wrapped up his third solo album, Venom, but the label declined to release it.

Now after six years at the label, Cham opens up about some of the issues he has had with them.

He told Billboard: "I think nowadays labels feels that rap doesn't sell as much as pop does. So what they are doing is they are trying to turn rappers into that. ‘You infiltrated pop culture with 'Ridin Dirty' now do it again.'

"That's what they wanted me to be, and if I came in with something that was more me, they wouldn't support. But 'Ridin Dirty' wasn't a pop record - it was myself."
