Creationism — Sat, 09/09/2006 - 17:44
Why is it that creationists find it so difficult to believe that everything we see and experience was created by something, but that the thing which created it which we cannot see or experience was created by nothing?
All they've done is add a potentially superficial layer that neither proves everything was created nor manages to explain if and where creation was started in the first place. Why not just reduce that layer and they'll have something which nothing created, that we know exists, and that is less complicated and farfetched than their theory?

Durruti
I think it was Stephen Hawking that wrote that everything following the "Big Bang" belonged to scientific study and everything prior belonged to "god(s)".
Bet he didn't.

It was AN argument against it. ive worked 9 hours today having gotten up at 6:30 this morning and i dont feel like formulating my ideas properly. Im sure you got the point though.

When you think about vertical properly its literally the most ridiculous thing in the world (omg lolololoerz). the idea or VE relies upon mutations in gametes. Huge mutations that arent, for all intents and purposes, superficial (a la the speckled moth study) and arent harmful. Downs syndrome is cause by the addition of one chromosome to the zygote and that stuffs nasty...

Well, it all depends on what you mean by evolution. I beleive in horizontal evolution, for example Darwins Galapogos finch study shows finchs becoming slightly different finchs over periods of time, but i think the idea of vertical evolution (fish becoming land dwellers etc) absurd

Ok...
Creation Vs Evolution
Wojj7 says: Creation
RE: Creationism — Mon, 11/09/2006 - 21:17
It's true, Wojj, it's dead. The original discussion which tacked the idiosyncratic flaws of creationism and whether or not it can be made sense of has died. It's become a discussion about physics like most of the topics narg contributes to. Doh.
