Fox has officially attached Changing Tatum as the lead actor in its X-Men spin-off movie about Gambit.
The Magic Mike star's casting as the mutant anti-hero has been widely reported already, but Deadline now reveals that work is beginning in earnest on the project.
Veteran X-Men writer Chris Claremont is said to be writing a treatment for the film, with Robocop's Josh Zetumer set to develop that into a screenplay.
As well as starring, Tatum will also be producing alongside his Free Association partner Reid Carolin.
The Cajun superhero is a former thief who has the ability to harness and direct kinetic energy in combat.
He was played by Taylor Kitsch in 2009's X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
