MTV Review: Charlie Puth Celebrates Billboard Music Awards Win At London’s KOKO
He was absent from the annual awards ceremony at the weekend because he was busy on his UK tour, but Charlie Puth made sure to celebrate winning not one but TWO gongs when he took to the stage at London’s KOKO last night (May 23).
The 24-year-old star brought the UK leg of his European tour to a close by bringing his Billboard Award out on stage to celebrate with his band and the buzzing crowd.
And there’s no mistaking why the ‘One Call Away’ singer has become such a regular feature on our playlists, as he blew the audience away with his stunning vocals and shy, yet charming personality.
After opening his set with ‘Marvin Gaye’, Charlie could be seen sipping from a cup before telling the crowd: “I feel like a proper Brit now drinking English tea!”
In addition to ‘Marvin Gaye’ and ‘One Call Away’, he also treated his screaming fans to renditions of ‘We Don’t Talk Anymore’ - his single featuring Selena Gomez - as well as ‘Suffer’ and ‘Then There’s You’.
Despite wooing the crowd with his cheeky smile and flirty banter - telling the crowd at one point that he’s a "bit of nerd" but "hopes that isn’t a turn off” - Charlie confessed he’s not always been so outgoing.
He explained: “I’ve only recently got more confident. I didn’t get confident until around 2014, until my music career started to get poppin’. That’s what we say in the States, ‘Poppin’'."
Well, he definitely got the crowd poppin' last night.
