Selena Gomez ‘Never Dated’ Charlie Puth Despite His Claims Of A Short-Lived Romance

In a situation that is almost too awkward to think about, Selena Gomez has shut down rumours that she and Charlie Puth were ever in a relationship after the singer claimed they were involved in a “very short-lived, very impactful” romance. 

While 25-year-old Charlie recently opened up to Billboard magazine about their supposed romance (and inspired the wrath of a bunch of hardcore Sel fans) a source over at PEOPLE has claimed that he pretty much imagined the entire thing.

An insider has confirmed that the duo “never dated” in spite of all those rumours the pair had a messy separation after releasing ‘We Don’t Talk Anymore’ back in 2016. Ironic, really.

Fans who shipped the couple together were on something of a high last week after Charlie confessed that there *was* more to their friendship than first meets the eye: “I don’t kiss and tell, but the only way a song like that can come across as real is if there’s something else going on behind the scenes," he began.

“And that’s what was happening [with Gomez]. Very short-lived, very small, but very impactful. And it really messed me up,” he continued. “I’m trying to put this the best way possible: It wasn’t like I was the only person on her mind. And I think I knew that going in — what I was getting myself into.”

He added: “She evoked such good emotion on that song, it was a pleasure working with her. That’s why I’m always happy to sing it, even though it came from a dark point in my life.”

Let’s pour one out for Charlie and anyone else who has ever experienced a “short-lived, very small, but very impactful” relationship with someone who didn’t have a clue what was going on.
