Sam Smith Scores Charts Double Whammy

Singer tops both this week’s singles and albums charts...

Sam Smith reigns supreme this week – topping both the Official UK Singles Chart with Lay Me Down and the Official UK Albums Chart with In The Lonely Hour.

Proceeds from the Red Nose Day song featuring John Legend have contributed towards £78,082,988 raised by Comic Relief so far this year.

[related] Years & Years’ single King drops one place to this week's No 2, while Flo Rida goes straight in at No 3 with GDFR (ft. Sage the Gemin).

Ellie Goulding slips two places to No 4 with Love Me Like You Do and Rihanna rounds out the top five with FourFiveSeconds (ft. Kanye West & Paul McCartney).

Over in the Albums Chart, Sam's In The Lonely Hour reclaims the No 1 spot, keeping Madonna’s Rebel Heart in second place.

Ed Sheeran’s X drops to this week’s No 3, while Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds are at No 4 with Chasing Yesterday. George Ezra’s Wanted on Voyage completes the top five.
