Cheryl Cole: 'I Did X Factor For Gary Not Simon'
Star shrugs off Simon Cowell's 'welcome back' message...
The former show judge is reported by The Sun to have responded cattily to show boss SiCo's "welcome back Cheryl" message on Twitter.
She said: "I saw Simon’s tweet. I'm not doing this for him. I am doing this for Gary as he's my friend and he asked me to do it."
Chezza joined Gary at Boughton House in Northamptonshire over the weekend to help him whittle down his group in the judges' houses section of the show.
Gary tweeted his own thanks to her as well, saying: "Thank you @CherylCole for all your help this weekend. The contestants and I loved having you there xx."
Robbie Williams had been expected to be giving Gary a hand, but rather than being dumped The Sun claims he is set to mentor the contestants later in the contest instead.
A source said: "Robbie will still have a role to play and an important one at that. Gary hasn't snubbed him, quite the opposite.
"Robbie will be working with the guys during the live shows to help them work on stage presence and vocal performance.
“He had a blast on the show last year when he was Gary's sidekick at the Los Angeles judges' houses round and wants back in."
