The insider claimed that Cheryl apparently warned Contostavlos: "Don't end up like me - I've lost the love of my life, several friends and I'm off track with my music because I devoted everything to that TV show."
Now's mole added: "Cheryl was so grateful for The X Factor, but there were consequences."
The 28-year old Geordie has previously reached out to Tulisa, sending her flowers on her XF debut and assuring her that despite reports that she would be back for the live shows, she had no plans to steal Contostavlos' job.
Speaking of the Fight For This Love singer and Tulisa's new-found bond, the insider claimed: "The girls have a really supportive friendship and Tulisa's glad to have Cheryl on speed dial."
