Cheryl Cole wowed the X Factor crowd last night with her performance of new single Fight For This Love…live!
It was thought originally the Girls Aloud
star would pre-record the track, but executives on the show decided to let Mrs. Cole sing live with help from some pre-recorded vocals.
The X Factor judge stepped from behind the famous panel desk clad in a saucy body suit with military style jacket and hat to complete the look for her eagerly awaited performance.
Fellow judges Dannii Minogue
and Simon Cowell
applauded Cole’s heroic performance with Cowell stating: “It really is going to pain me to say this, but that was incredible.”
He added: “I'd have you in my category any day. You’ve got a lot of stick this week, but it’s really hard coming from there (the judge’s seats) to up there (the stage).
“But that was an incredible performance. And unfortunately you’re going to be number one next week.”
Rikki Loney, who was booted off last night’s show, said of mentor Cheryl’s performance: “She was just so nervous about last night – really, really, really nervous. She was shaking and she said she couldn’t believe she was so nervous.”
Loney, along with Cheryl’s two other boys Llyod Daniels and Joe McElderry added: “We were trying to tell her: “You’re going to be alright”. She said: “I can’t believe my boys are actually trying to give me advice, it should be the other way around”. It felt a bit like we were mentoring her.'
Girls Aloud members Sarah Harding, Kimberly Walsh and Nicola Roberts plus proud hubby Ashley Cole were also on hand to congratulate Chezza on her first solo performance.
It may have been all smiles for Cheryl, but diva Whitney Houston encountered a major wardrobe malfunction during her performance of new single, Million Dollar Bill.
The six-time Grammy winner’s dress came undone as she was singing – leaving poor old Whitters visibly angry as she struggled to re-tie the loose strap on her silver gown.
In true diva style, Houston tried to joke about the problem telling host Dermot O’Leary: “I sang my song out of my dress!”
Whitney, who is a recovering drug addict, has come under criticism for her X Factor comeback performance as she appeared unresponsive to O’Leary’s questions after she finished singing.
She seemed to struggle throughout the interview, even having to take a rather long pause to say the release date her new LP, I Look To You.
Next Sunday will see the contestants take on the infamous Big Band week along with live performances from crooner Michael Buble and Westlife.
