Cheryl To Launch Her Own Record Label Next Year
Watch out Simon Cowell! Reports claim Chezza wants to use her talent-spotting skills to help new artists break into the industry...
Cheryl Fernandez-Versini is reportedly set to give frenemy Simon Cowell a run for his money by setting up her own record label.
According to The Mirror, the 31-year old is keen to help new artists get a start in the music industry and thanks to her role as a judge on the X Factor, has become a pro at spotting new talent.
A source told the tabloid: "It’s a natural next step for Cheryl, having coached contestants for years on The X Factor.
“She knows what it takes to succeed in the industry from her experience as a performer – both as a solo artist and as a group, from her years in Girls Aloud.
“Cheryl definitely knows her stuff. The artists she’ll be interested in won’t just be pop acts – it will cross over all genres.
“She loves music and is really excited about being able to springboard new talent."
They continued: "At the moment, she has just finished recording her new album.
“Once Only Human has been released – towards the end of the year – she’s going to focus all her attention on her label.
“There’s interest from all the big labels, but Cheryl may just go it alone.”
Back in March, SiCo revealed he offered the Crazy Stupid Love singer her own subsidiary at record label Sony when she signed her £1.5million deal to rejoin the XF panel. He said at the time: "I’ve said to Cheryl if she wants a label at Sony I would do it in a heartbeat because she is a really good judge of talent.
“Cheryl got Cher Lloyd into the final – no one else would have done that.”
However, Simon will not be able to take credit for the idea, with the Geordie babe previously stating in 2009: “I’d love to have my own label in the future.
“I would love to be on that side of it, I love hearing new artists, I love choosing songs and developing acts. So that’s something I’ve got planned.”
