Pudsey Power! Gareth Malone’s All Star Choir Set For No.1 On Sunday

Cheryl faces competition from this year's Children In Need single in this week's Official Chart Update...

Gareth Malone’s All Star Choir could reach the Official Singles Chart top spot this Sunday with their cover of Avicii’s No.1 hit Wake Me Up.

This year’s official BBC Children In Need single features a whole host of untrained voices including Jo Brand, Strictly’s Craig Revel-Horwood, Bake Off’s Mel Giedroyc and Radio 1 DJ Alice Levine.

Choir master Malone told the Official Charts Company: “To see the Number 1 within reach this week is just wonderful for this group of unlikely choristers. Everyone involved has worked so hard to create this record and it’s fantastic to see the support we are getting in return.

“Children in Need has a huge impact on the lives of children in the UK and if this single helps then it will be a proud day for us all.”

Elsewhere in the Official ChartUpdate, staying put at No.2 is Ed Sheeran with Thinking Out Loud, Cheryl falls two to No.3 with I Don’t Care while One Direction climb five spots this week to No.4 with Steal My Girl.

Meghan Trainor’s All About That Bass slips to No.5 this week and The Veronicas claim this week’s second-highest new entry at No.6 with You Ruin Me.

Tom Odell’s recent new release Real Love climbs 14 places to No.7 while Calvin Harris and Ellie Goulding fall two places to No.8 with Outside.

Rounding off the Top 10 is Sam Smith at both Nos.9 and 10 with Like I Can and I’m Not The Only One.
