Ctrl.Alt.Shift = Top.UK.Talent

Chipmunk, The Thirst, Julian Barratt and Metronomy amongst those involved in this years’ event…

Chipmunk, The Thirst, and Tom Waits’ prodigy Jesca Hoop, are set to perform at the national premiere of the 2009 Ctrl.Alt.Shift Short Films this Thursday.

Ctrl.Alt.Shift was set up to try and engage the Twitter generation in international issues. The project aims to get young people to take full control of their own lives in order to actively affect their futures.

In order to raise awareness, Ctrl.Alt.Shift have pioneered various projects involving some of the top up and coming artists in the world. The latest event is based around five short films that were selected earlier in the year.

The competition, launched June last year, invited aspiring filmmakers to write treatments using one of three key issues 'War + Peace', 'Gender + Power', and 'HIV + Stigma'.
The winners; Joe Patrick & Tim Woodall, Tim Travers Hawkins, Fern Berresford, Ben Newman and Shelia Menon & Alex Monro were then given opportunity to take their treatment to the big screen with the help of some of the UKs top directors, musicians and actors.

Julian Barratt, Martin Freeman, Kate Ashfield, Adam Buxton and Metronomy were amongst the names that are featured as well as the acts mentioned above.
The short films will be premiered alongside live performances from Jesca Hoop, The Thirst and Chipmunk at Shoreditch Studios East London on May 14.
Tickets are free and can be applied for HERE.
