21 Reasons Chloe Moretz Is QUEEN
Chloë Moretz has been conquering Hollywood for over a decade now, pretty impressive considering she’s 19 TODAY!
In that time she’s bagged a ton of badass roles and won us over with her personality and charm in the process.
So with that in mind, here are 21 reasons why Chloë Moretz is undoubtedly Queen…
1. She is super accomplished for her age
She’s not been an adult long, yet her film credits are already seriously enviable. She’s been in the likes of (500) Days of Summer, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Kick-Ass, Let Me In, Hugo, Dark Shadows, Carrie, If I Stay and The Equalizer, to name just a few. Phew!
2. She’s even been crowned “influential” by Time Magazine
Chloë was named one of the '25 Most Influential Teens Of The Year' by Time magazine. You know, as in, the same Time Magazine that’s recognised the likes of Barack Obama, Mark Zuckerberg and Pope Francis!
3. She’s not afraid of embracing her dark side
She’s been known for playing dark characters in R-rated films through her child and teenage career. So far she’s played a blood-sucking vagabond, an uncouth vigilante and a teenage prostitute. What’s next?
4. She couldn’t even see her very first film because of its rating
Her first film role was Chelsea Lutz in The Amityville Horror and 6-year-old Chloë was too young to go to the premiere! She still has fond memories of her horror beginnings though, check out this cute snap of her and Ryan Reynolds.
5. She’s trained with Jackie Chan’s stunt crew
To get in character for Kick-Ass she trained for three months with Jackie Chan’s stunt crew, this enabled her to do most of her own stunts. What a badass!
6. She swears like a sailor
We’ll probably never get over the shock of seeing this uber cute, titchy hero snarling and spitting the C-word in Kick-Ass.
7. She knows that sh*t won’t fly at home, though
Don’t confuse her appearances onscreen for real life though - mama Moretz would not stand that kind of behaviour at home! Chloë once told an interviewer: "I was raised to think cursing makes you look unintelligent.”
8. Did we mention she’s modelled for Vogue?
Miss Moretz makes a stunning cover star, but we particularly love her behind-the-scenes ‘making of the cover’ video where she admits her mum won’t let her buy designer clothing!
9. And she looked fly AF at Fashion Week
Just casually chillin’ with Uma Thurman (whose role in Kill Bill happened to be one of her big inspirations for her own role as Hit-Girl) at NYC Fashion Week when she was 14. No biggie.
10. She publically supports LGBT equality rights
Growing up with two gay brothers, Chloë witnessed them being bullied for their sexual orientation. She said of it: “The problem is we live in a society where we have to say the words, 'I'm coming out'. No one should care what your sexual orientation is, what colour your skin is, or if you're a man or a woman.”
And for those that start mud slingin’ on Twitter? “I will delete you, and I will block you, and you will not be a part of my life if you ever say anything bad about my brothers.” Hear hear!
11. She’s proud to call herself a feminist
Chloë considers herself a feminist and turns down a lot of roles that require her to be a simple plot device.
Check out these wise words she shared on feminism: “I think feminism is about strong women being who they want to be and fighting for equality on all accounts. It’s not about men being demolished to bring women higher up in the world. I think that’s incredibly misconstrued.”
12. Her feminism even dictates her roles
She played a teenage prostitute in the film The Equalizer because her character "felt so real", rather than a mere "plot device".
13. Nothing gets in her way of a good chick flick
She frequently tweets about her love of Netflix and (like us) can’t deal when it’s down.
But did you know the Queen of Darkness actually favours a bit of light relief? In particular, she can’t get enough of Legally Blonde. We’re right there with ya, sister.
14. Two words: Squad Goals
Some little sisters would have a hard time being seen in public with their older brothers, but two of Chloë’s bros work for her! One is her acting coach and the other her business manager.
Of her close-knit fam-a-lam she once said: "No one will ever understand the dynamic of your family. Ever. We are the closest family ever, and we are the most insane family ever. It may look weird to others, but to us, it's life."
15. She’s BFFs with J-Law
Like, in real life. Not just the usual imaginary-BFFs-with-J-law. No? Just us? Whatever.
J-law and Chloë met back in 2008 when they starred in the indie film The Poker House. It was before Jennifer scored her first Oscar and back when Chloe was relatively unknown.
Check out this ridic cute video of them singing Ain’t No Mountain High Enough. Too. Adorbs.
16. She hasn’t got a Hollywood ego
There is no way Chloë’s ego is getting out of control, not while Mama Mortez is around at least.
She once told an interviewer, “My mom has always said that if I get a big head, she'll take me out of this business as quickly as I got into it.” #mumknowsbest
17. She knows herself
Chloë knows herself. And that self is one funny bro.
18. She has a Ryan Gosling crush too
But unlike the rest of us mere mortals, she might actually get to - GASP - act alongside him one day.
19. She doesn’t care about fame
C-dawg has made it perfectly clear she considers fame a side effect of her job. She takes her work seriously.
Case in point: She spent time at a drug rehab centre to prepare for her role in Texas Killing Fields. Dedication – we like it.
20. Home Girl has her priorities straight
We agree that cake, moreover, good cake is incredibly important. Chloë is 19 today now needless to say we’ll be stalking her Instagram for a drool-worthy cake.
21. That selfie game be STRONG
