Chris Brown Wants Rihanna Restraining Order Lifted
He wants the order lifted in time for the Grammys…
The Forever singer wants to attend the ceremony on 13 February but under the protective order, he cannot come within 100 yards of his ex. Chris has three Grammy nominations, including best rap/sung collaboration for Deuces, while RiRi has six. Abiding by the ruling “can be a problem with award shows,” Chris’ lawyer Mark Geragos explained to the court.
The request was made at a progress hearing on 28 January, where it was noted that the star had successfully completed a year-long domestic violence counselling programme.
The judge praised Chris’ efforts so far and said she would not oppose the restraining order being reduced to a lesser ‘do not annoy’ order, but said that the matter must be put to Rihanna’s legal team.
The 21-year-old was told he must return to the court in the next fortnight to hear the outcome of that decision.
Either way, he will remain on probation for five years for assaulting his then-girlfriend on the eve of the 2009 Grammys.
