Frank Ocean's cousin Chris Brown over a fight that erupted in a parking lot back in January.

The pair's entourages were thought to have [uuid=4357ecc8-60f8-426c-a17e-d79541c37059]clashed over a parking space[/uuid] at Westlake Recording Studio in LA on January 27, but [uuid=580c0f0b-ab41-4861-9b69-b98964c333f2]the case was soon closed[/uuid] by police after no formal charges were filed.

However, according to E! News, Duarte filed a lawsuit in the Los Angeles Superior Court yesterday (August 13) asking for damages in excess of US$25,000 and alleging battery, assault, intentional infliction of emotional distress and conspiracy to commit battery.

The defendant Duarte alleges that a person who was with Chris, identified only as "Hood," punched and kicked him 'at least 12 times' while Brown encouraged him.

With regard to the conspiracy claim, Duarte's lawsuit alleges that Brown had "been engaged in a public verbal dispute" with Ocean and "has, through social media, attempted to publicly belittle Frank Ocean, and any recording artist or acts associated with him."

According to the Associated Press, Brown's lawyer Mark Geragos has said that he will seek to have the lawsuit dismissed and countersue Duarte.

He added: "This is what gives lawyers and lawsuits a bad name is garbage like this."
