Chris Martin: 'Music Saved My Life After Gwyneth Split'
Coldplay frontman opens up about finding an outlet for heartache in latest album...
Chris Martin has described music as a "life-saver" force in the wake of his break-up with wife Gwyneth Paltrow.
The Coldplay star opened up about the way he dealt with the split during an interview on Radio 2 yesterday.
"You can choose your paths in life, I find, when you get to a point where you're like, 'I could either jump off a bridge or I could try and turn this around'. I'm sure lots of people have that in much harder instances. You just find the right tools," he told Steve Wright's Big Show.
"I feel so grateful. Especially over the last couple of years, music has been alchemising.
"Going through something difficult in your life, music for me is always a friend and something that helps you to figure things out. That's always what I'm doing in the middle of the night. I'm very grateful to be here. Every day is a blessing. That's how I feel."
And he also revealed that he'd relapsed to meat since he and Gwynnie "consciously uncoupled".
"I'd only eat something that I think I could kill," he said. "I'd kill a fish. Not a giraffe."
I'm gonna give you my heart
'Cause you're a sky, 'cause you're a sky full of stars
'Cause you light up the path
I don't care, go on and tear me apart
I don't care if you do, ooh-ooh, ooh
'Cause in a sky, 'cause in a sky full of stars
I think I saw you
'Cause you're a sky, 'cause you're a sky full of stars
I wanna die in your arms, oh, oh-oh
'Cause you get lighter the more it gets dark
I'm gonna give you my heart, oh
I don't care, go on and tear me apart
I don't care if you do, ooh-ooh, ooh
'Cause in a sky, 'cause in sky full of stars
I think I see you
I think I see you
'Cause you're a sky, you're a sky full of stars
Such a heavenly view
You're such a heavenly view
Yeah, yeah, yeah, ooh
