Christina Aguilera has never been the shy and retiring type and now the singer is said to be eyeing up her first movie lead role as a burlesque dancer.

And according to website IMDB fellow singer Cher has now signed up for the flick- which is to be called Burlesque.

Aguilera has had previous cameo appearances in movies such as the animated flick Sharks Tale.

She has also been lined up to play herself in Russell Brand’s future film, Get Him To The Geek, which is also said to be featuring P.Diddy.

The Dirrty singer is rumoured to be in talks to take on her first lead role in the movie, written by the brother of The Pussycat Dolls founder Steven Antin.

A source from the studio has said that it is: "too preliminary to comment on casting" despite the interest in Aguilera.

It is unclear what role Christina will play in the movie or whether she has auditioned for any characters yet. As always, MTV News will keep you up to date with any developments.

Burlesque is due to start filming at the start of January next year…we can’t wait for that one!
