Claptone Reveals 10 Club Tunes He's Loving Right Now - Listen!
The masked producer drops 10 tracks to kick start your weekend...
His Masquerade parties are becoming the stuff of legend and he's still managed to keep his identity a mystery - we are of course talking about anonymous producer Claptone.
We defy you not to dance to 'The Drums (Din Daa Daa)' his infectious, rolling club track invading dance floors the world over and now he's picked out ten tunes he's obsessed with lately. And on hearing them, we are too!
Check out his playlist featuring his take on Bastille, a HUGE tune from Franky Rizardo, a twist on Radiohead's 'Everything In It's Right Place' and more below...
Bastille - 'Blame' (Claptone Extended Mix)
"I remixed the UK indie-genius Bastille. I put all my heart into this as you can hear when I enthusiastically sample the vocals 'This is my body and Soul'. It’s all about body and soul as you know."
Freiboitar - 'Shine In The Night'
"Disco is where I learned dancing and my friends say it'd where I started to shine in the night. I invited Freiboitar to my 'The Masquerade' event in Paris at Zig Zag recently and he played a perfect warm up. He's got so much positivity, groove and love running through his sound. What more can you ask for?"
Radiohead - 'Everything In It's Right Place' (Nic Fanciulli Edit)
"Radiohead is a massive inspiration for me. Even though the original cannot be remixed into anything better, Saved Records boss Nic Fanciulli transported it into a whole other dimension."
Red Rack'em - 'Wonky Bassline Disco Banger' (Original)
"Berlin-based Red Rack’em delivered this incredible floor-filler at the end of last year. I have been playing it ever since. A force to be reckoned with. I don’t think it will leave my life anytime soon."
Daniel Steinberg - 'Friends' (Original Mix)
"I have a soft-spot for gospel, funk and hip hop samples and it seems like Daniel Steinberg’s 'Friends' is a perfect piece of my love for you."
Franky Rizardo - 'Same Man' (Original Mix)
"Remixes, cover versions and sampling are an integral part of dance music and it is for hip hop. Well, actually is for all kinds of music. It just needs to be done right. Defected embrace a good take on a classic and not just look down on cover versions in general. I like that attitude as much as I like the early 80s electro funk classic B Beat Girls song 'For the Same Man', the original this track by Franky Rizardo is based on."
Moderat - 'Eating Hooks' (Siriusmo Remix) (Solomun Edit)
"When Moderat and Solomun get together, it has to be something special. A little too much Bass in the mixdown and the Kick could be louder though..."
The Golden Boy - 'Egyptian Lover' (Latmun Remix)
"I discovered Latmun by 'Def' which I put onto my 2CD 'The Masquerade Vol.1' the first soundtrack to my fresh new event series. Since then he put out lots of infectious tracks and remixes. Like this one: Tribal drums, a dirty groove and a wild vocal refrain that sticks in your mind for hours on end. Awesome."
Cubicolor - 'Dead End Thrills' (Extended Mix)
"Out last year on Ajunadeep, Cubicolor’s “Dead End Thrills” is an underrated beauty kind of like myself. Timeless to say the least."
Gorillaz - 'We Got The Power' (Claptone Remix)
"A brand new remix from me for one of the realest groups of all time. Unadulterated euphoria."
Claptone's 'The Drums (Din Daa Daa)' is out now.
