Club MTV Are Going Back To Mutiny Festival 2016 And Here's Why You Should Too...
WIth Steve Angello, CeeLo Green, Pete Tong, Groove Armada and more, you'd be mad to miss it...
For the third year running, Club MTV continues its partnership with Mutiny Festival in Portsmouth. The past two outings have seen what is now Portsmouth's biggest annual dance event go from strength to strength.
The spectacle last year was truly amazing. The special FX that went in to the headline sets for Rebel Sound and Knife Party were unlike anything the South Coast has ever seen. Coupled with the variety of stages that saw some of the biggest names in dance music across the board (including Gorgon City, MK, Hannah Wants, Amine Edge and Dance), you can see why we're proud to call this one of our favourites!
So, what to expect this year? Well, let’s start at the top. We talked about special FX…so be prepared for something beyond ridiculous. One of the most infamous Swedes in Dance music history is closing the Saturday night. Yes, Steve Angello will be at Mutiny Festival. What a coup! And with him, we're sure will follow lorry-loads of pyro madness. We’ve seen the rider – it's crazy!!! We had the pleasure of seeing him in Miami last week, and needless to say, we are convinced this will be the highlight of Mutiny this year.
Down the street from old town, in a cloud of smoke he caught her eyes
Never will they wonder, never will they be the same inside
Then she kissed him softly, and walked within the stillness of the night
Wasted love, why do I always give so much?
Wasted love, you know I gave you all my heart
Wasted love, can't help but always give too much
But it's never enough
Wasted love, why do I always give so much?
But it's never enough
Still her ghost, is lingering
Down that dusty road, of broken dreams
I tried my luck, on a little flame
But she became the fire within
Wasted love, why do I always give so much?
Wasted love, you know I gave you all my heart
Wasted love, can't help but always give too much
But it's never enough
Wasted love, why do I always give so much?
But it's never enough
That being said, we shouldn’t take away from the rest…
Last year, an afternoon cameo from Snoop Dogg all but stole the show. So it was obviously felt that the international pop flavour needed to be tasted once more. Low and behold, the one and only CeeLo Green has been drafted in for the Sunday night finale. With a No.1-selling, huge hit-making global superstar, you can’t really wish for much else to close an epic weekend.
Headliners aside, this line up is bustling with big names. From the legendary Groove Armadas and Pete Tongs of the world, to the cool cats like Patrick Topping, Kerry Chandler and Yousef, you’ve literally got an A-Z of dance music champions. For such a young festival, it really does boast an incredible variety.
Example, Sub Focus, Jaguar Skills, Vato Gonzalez, Mike Skinner, and festival favourites Mistajam and our very own R3WIRE & Varski will all be present, and that’s still not even half the names on offer.
All in all, we once again look forward to Mutiny weekend, as much as we look forward to any of the long-time established UK festivals. This has become a heavyweight fixture of the dance music scene, and one that punters and artists alike mark early in their diaries. If you haven’t done so yet, we suggest you do now as well. May 28th and 29th, King George, V Fields, Portsmouth. Be there.
