Coldplayhave exclusively told Chris Martinand Co told us that their new LP is “designed to be a story", stating: "It’s supposed to be about two people who grow up separately in a very big oppressive city, and they each are a bit lost in their lives."

He continued: "They join this gang, meet, fall in love and then try and escape and fall out, then get back together.”

Anyone else starting to get a bit confused? Frontman Chris went on to explain: “Paradise is about a girl really, the female half of the album, just about being a bit lost in the world and escaping through fantasy”.

As for the promo for the song – which has been directed by Hype Williams - Chris admitted he prefers not to grace the screen for the band’s music videos, and would rather leave that up to “someone attractive and beautiful”.

He went on to hint the Paradise video “might have to have a girl in it,” joking that “it might actually be pleasurable to watch!”

While he may not be a huge fan of appearing on screen, there’s no denying Mr. Martin is most definitely at home on the stage. And with a festival-friendly anthem of a new single, he can’t wait to bring Paradise to live audiences, claiming: “It’s the best feeling in the world having someone singing your song back to you”.

We’d best get learning the lyrics then...
