Coldplay, Radiohead, Snow Patrol Team Up For Sudan

Drummers team up for ‘Beat For Peace’ campaign...

Drummers from Coldplay,Radiohead, Snow Patrol, Pink Floydand The Policehave teamed up to record a video to highlight the crisis in Sudan.

The video is part of the Beat For Peace campaign, which is urging world leaders to work harder to prevent the collapse of diplomacy and onset of war in Sudan ahead of a landmark referendum. It features Radiohead’s Phil Selway, Coldplay's Will Champion, Snow Patrol's Jonny Quinn, The Police’s Stewart Copeland and Nick Mason from Pink Floyd.

The video is released today, September 19, as thousands of activists gather at rallies in 14 countries to call on their leaders to help the Sudanese people.

Coldplay’s Will Champion explained the motivation behind the clip. "This drum beat has passed from Cairo to Accra, Barcelona, Sydney, Moscow and Tokyo, New York and Los Angeles. It is a global cry for our leaders to increase their efforts to prevent widespread conflict returning to Sudan."

In other Coldplay news, the guys are close to completing their fifth studio album but will miss their self-imposed Christmas deadline. The LP will now be released in 2011 and the accompanying tour may not take place until 2012, according to reports.
