From Cole Sprouse To Selena Gomez: 9 Celebrities Who Dealt With Hacking Scandals

The following celebrities had their privacy invaded when hackers stole their personal information.

Even the most complicated passwords in the world can occasionally be hacked, which explains why celebrities from Cole Sprouse to Britney Spears to Niall Horan have all had their social-media accounts compromised.

Hot on the heels of reports that Lili Reinhart has also fallen victim to a hacking, we’ve gathered up a collection of major names who all had their privacy invaded when someone in cyberspace tried to steal their personal information.

Cole Sprouse

The Riverdale actor recently cracked a joke about fans not being able to distinguish between his real tweets and a hacker, and it wasn’t long before they were given that task IRL. A series of offensive messages were posted on his account that made reference to his time with Disney and his brother’s rumoured relationship with Barbara Palvin.

Lili Reinhart

After hitting out at the people who targeted her boyfriend, the hackers turned their attention on the 21-year-old instead. An image of a nude woman was posted on her account in an attempt to slut shame her, but fans soon spotted that the person in the shot was missing a distinctive mole on Lili’s stomach.

Emma Watson

Back in 2014, Emma was threatened with the release of nude pictures that didn’t actually exist. Fast forward to 2017 and she was hacked for real when images of her trying on a selection of outfits for a fitting were released online. Not cool.

Jennifer Lawrence

J-Law was faced with a horrendous invasion of her privacy when nude photos of her were released during the global hack known as The Fappening. In an interview on Hollywood Reporter’s Awards Chatter Podcast, she said: “There’s not one person in the world that is not capable of seeing these intimate photos of me. You can just be at a barbecue and somebody can just pull them up on their phone.”

Leslie Jones

The comedian was hit with a double whammy of racist and sexist abuse when a hacker broke into her website, uploaded her private nude photos, and proceeded to share a meme of Harambe on her page. She responded with class: “If you want to hurt anybody these days, you’re going to have to do way more than leak their nudes or call them names.”

Selena Gomez

Back in January 2011, a pretty random tweet was posted on Selena’s profile that made reference to her then-rumoured relationship with Justin Bieber: “Oh yeh, JUSTIN BIEBER SUCKS!!!!!!!” the message said, before a follow-up tweet read: “THE KID ON 4CHAN.ORG IS A LIEN F--KER HE DIDN'T HACK S--T!!!!"

Niall Horan

A personal tweet was shared on the One Direction singer’s profile that suggested he was in need of some medical advice: “Have a massive spot on my arse. Wondering should I squeeze it. What do ye think?” it said, only for Niall to later clarify: “OK I don't know what happened with that last tweet."

Lea Michele

The former Glee actor was hacked by someone who decided to announce her (fake) pregnancy with the world: “Before this gets out to the media, I would like to announce to my fans that I am pregnant," the tweet read from 2014. Lea later said she would be changing her password from the name of her cat.

Britney Spears

Roll back to 2011, and Britney Spears confused the entire world when a series of satanic messages were posted on her Twitter account: "I give myself to Lucifer every day for it to arrive as quickly as possible. Glory to Satan!" one read, as another said: "I hope that the new world order will arrive as soon as possible! - Britney."
