Colin Farrell: 'I Wanted To Marry Liz Taylor'
Actor says he hoped to become screen legend's eighth husband...
Colin Farrell has revealed that he wanted to marry screen icon Liz Taylor.
The 37-year-old Hollywood star made his surprising claim in an interview with Ellen DeGeneres on The Ellen Show yesterday.
He explained that he had become very close to the acting legend, who was 79 at the time of her death in 2011 - but he said their relationship was never consummated.
The Irishman said: "It was kind of like the last, it feels like in my head, not her, I'm projecting, but the last kind of romantic relationship I had, which was never consummated."
And he explained that they had become friends after he bumped into her people while in a hospital.
"I said my son's about to be born. They said 'Oh'. I said 'What are you doing here?' And they said 'Well Elizabeth's having a stint put in her heart, it's no big deal cause she had so much s**t' and I said, 'Will you tell her I said hello? She probably won't know who I am'.
"And they go, 'No, she knows who you are', and I went 'Wow, cool. Well, tell her I said hello and I wish her the best', and they said, 'Will do'.
"I then cheekily about a week later said, 'Listen is there any chance I can go… can I go and see her?' That was the beginning of a year and a half or two years of what was a really cool...
"I just adored her. She was a spectacular, spectacular woman. I wanted to be [husband] number eight but we ran out of road."
