Demi Lovato: 'Cory Monteith Didn't Choose To Die'

Demi Lovato has addressed the death of Glee star Cory Monteith, stating that addiction is a 'disease' and that he didn't mean to end his own life with a concoction of heroin and alcohol. 

 

The 31-year old was found dead at a hotel in Vancouver, Canada last weekend, with the [uuid=266d7142-ea05-4c0e-bc33-c7357b90c825]The X Factor USA judge continued: "It's really scary, but I'm really hoping that from this, people are able to see this is a very, very, very dangerous disease.

 

"The main person in my thoughts is Lea [Michele]. I am praying for her so hard and I love her so much. I'm wishing her a lot of strength right now."

 

Monteith's Glee co-stars have also paid tribute to the late star, holding a candle-lit vigil in his memory.

 

Amber Riley, who plays Mercedes in the hit TV show, took to Twitter to reveal how some of Cory's cast mates had gathered to pay their respects to the late actor.

 

She wrote: "Yesterday I got to sit with my Glee family and remember a man I considered a brother and a friend.

“With a heavy heart, RIP Cory Monteith. Continued prayer for his family and Lea. Sending hugs to all you gleeks.”

 

At a separate vigil in Vancouver, more than 250 fans gathered outside the hotel where he was found dead, leaving notes and writing messages on balloons before releasing them into the sky.

 

Glee creator Ryan Murphy has also spoken about Cory's death, telling E! that he would have ended the show if Monteith's girlfriend Lea had asked him to.
