Damon Dash Accused Of Rape
Victoria Beckham's record producer Damon Dash has been accused of raping a model in Brazil on New Year's Day 2003.
The alleged attack is said to have occurred while model Kirstie Thompson was under the influence of drink and drugs. Dash is being sued for 8.1 million as compensation for punitive damages, pain and suffering and mental damages.
Dash is best known in the UK for producing Victoria Beckham's recent single, 'This Groove'. He co-founded the Roc-A-Fella record label in 1995 with Jay-Z. Victoria is the face of Damon's Rocawear fashion label.
The 32-year-old model claimed that Dash asked her for sex at the New Year's Eve party, which she declined. She claimed he then entered her hotel room the following morning and raped her.
A spokesperson for Dash called the lawsuit baseless. "Any such allegations are baseless and untrue," she said. "Damon has not been charged with anything."
Thompson's lawyer Raoul Felder told BBC News that she went to police in Brazil, but Dash was not arrested. Her case is going through the US civil courts because, for a criminal trial, Dash had to have been charged in Brazil.
