Dane DeHaan For BAFTA Rising Star Award
This year’s nominees for the BAFTA EE Rising Star Award have been announced – and Dane DeHaan has made it to the short list.
Other nominees include Lupita Nyong'o (12 Years A Slave) George MacKay (How I Live Now), Will Poulter (We're The Millers) and Léa Seydoux (Blue Is The Warmest Colour).
A public vote will decide the winner of the award - which recognises actors with "exceptional talent and destined to be bright stars in the future of cinema" – with the results revealed at the BAFTAs on 16 February.
DeHaan, who has also appeared in The Place Beyond The Pines and Kill Your Darlings, described his nomination as a “huge honour and humbling experience”.
DeHaan has strong competition in the category, including Nyong'o who is acclaimed for her performance in 12 Years A Slave, which opens in UK cinemas 10 January.
French actress Seydoux is another strong contender, having already won the Palme d'Or last May alongside her Blue Is The Warmest Colour co-star Adèle Exarchopoulos and director Abdellatif Kechiche.
Previous recipients of the award include James McAvoy, Shia LaBeouf, Kristen Stewart and Juno Temple.
