MTV Review | Daniel Radcliffe Is Devilishly Good In 'Horns'
UK Release Date: October 29
Certificate: 15
Running Time: 120min
Cast: Daniel Radcliffe, Juno Temple, Max Minghella, Heather Graham, James Remar, Joe Anderson
Director: Alexandre Aja
Plot: Following the rape and murder of his girlfriend Merrin Williams (Temple), Ig Perrish (Radcliffe) is accused of committing the terrible crime and awakes one morning to find horns growing from his head. As Ig tries to convince the world he is innocent, his horns also give him the ability for people to confess their deepest, darkest secrets - but will Merrin's killer be revealed?
Best Scene: When Ig uses his new slimy snake friends to terrify waitress Veronica (Graham) into telling the truth about the night Merrin was murdered. Let's just say you wouldn't mess with Ig and his er, slithery sidekicks.
Best One Liner: After being hounded by the press, Ig turns round to a bunch of reporters and exclaims: "How about you guys beat the s**t out of each other and the winner gets an exclusive interview with me?", which results in a mass brawl between two rival news crews - nice work Ig!
Date Movie or Mate Movie: With Halloween fast approaching, Horns is the perfect movie to snuggle up to your date with. While it may be a fantasy, horror flick, the underlying love story between Ig and Merrin will leave you all warm inside.
[related]Scene Stealer: Daniel Radcliffe. Who knew the Harry Potter actor could be so horny! From his steamy sex scenes to his intense confrontation with Lee (Minghella), the actor gives a truly impressive performance.
WTF Moment: It has to be the final scene when Merrin's killer is revealed and meets a rather slippery end. Not to mention THAT strange scene in the doctor's surgery andIg's bizarre transformation into the devil… let's just say it all gets a bit er, weird.
Summary: Horns sees Daniel Radcliffe athis prime, with his wizard alter-ego a distant memory as he truly shines in what otherwise, is a very murky movie. This Halloween, if you're after a haunting, daunting and down right dark flick, then this film is the one for you.
