PUT THAT KANYE VIDEO BACK UP YOUTUBE
Ibeyi - River
The Cuban-French twins whose eyes have been following you on public transport released their self-titled debut last week. Ibeyi has been brought to our ears as a labour of love - and damn, we can see why. Singing with their hearts and minds in tune, one beating out patterns on a box drum, the other picking out melodies on the piano, Lisa and Naomi Diaz seep into your soul. River is a particular haunter: “Come to your river, wash my soul” the wild eyed sisters sing. It’s enough to want to jump right on in with them.
Six Degrees (ft Danny Brown) - Ghostface Killah X Badbadnotgood
It’s nice that we live in a world where collaborations like this can exist. Danny Brown, the dentists' nightmare whose lyrics are the spits of an angry toddler and veteran Wu Tang Clan-er Ghostface make a dynamic duo whose exploits are brought to life by the horns of Badbadnotgood, a trio of young tricksters whose jazz attitude mellows the ferocity of Brown’s bars.
Years & Years - King (Oceaán Remix)
Hurl everything you think you knew about Years & Years - the tummy flip on hearing Olly’s falsetto, the under the table foot tap - into the bin. Bury that. In lieu of their probable chart smash, King, Oceaán has been tasked with producing a remix, and he’s taken the glittery original and drowned it in black ink. Olly’s vocals emerge sounding like Bane from Batman and the progressive chords are weighted down by the ankles by a beyond moody bassline. Surprisingly, it works.
Kanye West - All Day
Boo you internet w****s for taking Kanye’s BRITs performance down. Featuring flame throwers, major players from London’s grime squad and a booty poppin’ Taylor Swift, All Day is an impressive new cut from his yet to be released, yet to be named seventh album. We’re expecting a Beyonce any time soon, but till then, this audio stream will do nicely.
