Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl has returned to the stage after spectacularly breaking his leg at a show in Sweden last month, which meant having to cancel UK stadium shows and their headline performance at Glastonbury Festival.
Playing at the Robert F Kennedy Memorial Stadium in Washington DC, Grohl and band mates performed their first live show since the accident to celebrate Independence Day and the band’s 20th anniversary.
The rock god took to the stage in a rather fetching purple cast, though it didn’t quite match the rest of his outfit but we love him for trying!
He spent most of the performance perched on a Game Of Thrones-esque iron throne, fit with flashing lights and decorated with guitar necks instead of swords.
Speaking to the DC crowd, he said: “A funny thing happened to me a couple of weeks ago, I fell off the f**king stage!”
“So then I went to hospital, had surgery, but I said ‘I’m not missing this show for the world. Nothing is impossible,” he continued, pleasing the crowd with his resilience.
Grohl’s mother also made an appearance at the show which marked the 20th anniversary of the Foo Fighter’s self-titled debut album.
