Becks Explains Harper Seven’s Name
David reveals why they chose such an unusual name for their daughter…
David Beckham has explained the origins of the name Harper Seven, after he and Victoria gave their newborn daughter the unusual moniker.
In a video on Facebook, Becks explained that his wife had chosen Harper because “Victoria's favourite book is To Kill A Mockingbird and the author was Harper Lee. It's a very strong, passionate book”. He also noted that Harper was an old English name.
As for Seven, David confirmed rumours that it referred to his shirt number while playing for England and Man Utd. “It was such an influential number throughout my career and a lucky number,” he explained.
The father-of-four added that Seven also stood for “spiritual perfection, the Seven Wonders Of The World, seven colours of the rainbow and in many cultures around the world it's regarded as a lucky number”.
Victoria recently tweeted how in love she was with her new daughter, who was born on 11 July in LA.
"Baby Harper is the most beautiful baby girl I have ever seen,” she wrote. “I have fallen in love all over again!!!"
